I am passionate about building people and organisations - driven by purpose and delivering public value.
An inspiring and transformative leader, I've held executive and non-executive roles where I have successfully led strategies and teams to achieve creative, engagement, financial and policy objectives for some of Australia's most significant cultural and educational institutions.
I established Sophie Lieberman Consulting in 2020 to provide strategic and creative thinking that delivers public value.
I bring experience, intellect and innovation to thinking and doing in the complex environment of contemporary culture and place making to frame opportunities and deliver on purpose.
I am an adept
• systems thinker – quickly assaying the big picture, understanding the detail and working across difference to build connections;
• leader and storyteller - crafting compelling narratives that inspire commitment, engagement and investment.
• connector and convenor – building new relationships, coalitions and partnerships that increase participation and advance purpose.
I have deep, domain-specific expertise in cultural programming, precincts and placemaking, stakeholder and audience engagement, partnerships and fundraising, organisational management, leadership and governance.
I have a personal commitment to access and equity in cultural and educational participation which I have demonstrated by leading a range of initiatives to increase engagement by un-served and under-represented communities.
I hold a PhD in history from UNSW, which interrogated the politics of the built landscape and contemporary national identity and am an alumni of the Sydney Leadership Program (now Adaptive Leadership Australia) and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
